The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration About Size Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Manual Updates

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Service Background

The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
