World Series Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning matchup that saw the Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate 51 million viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB announced this represents the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase compared to the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different tongues.
